Rain or Shine rookie Chris Tiu realizes the Philippine Cup just wasn’t in the cards for the Elasto Painters, but feels no bitterness about the result of the title series, which saw Talk ‘N Text win the championship via a sweep.

“It would have been sweeter had we won the championship. But that’s OK,” said Tiu. “It’s been a privilege for me playing for this franchise, which went all the way to the championship round and against the No. 1 team in the PBA.”

The former SMART-Gilas Pilipinas team captain said it was time for the young Elasto Painters squad to put the loss behind them and look toward the future.

“I’m sure we will have many more opportunities. Bata pa naman kami,” said Tiu, who became a key contributor for the Elasto Painters in the playoffs despite missing most of the tournament because of a hamstring injury. He plans to use the break to get to know the team better.

“I’m still trying to feel my way around, not only because I’m coming off an injury, but I’m still adjusting to the system of Coach Yeng,” said Tiu.

“I’m going back to the gym. I will also spend time getting myself better. I will be doing continuous therapy and I will work out immediately with some of my teammates.”
