The Cebuana Lhuillier Gems will be holding an open tryout in hope of building a fast-paced, competitive team for next season’s PBA D-League.
Interim coach Beaujing Acot said tryouts will be held for three straight days beginning August 8, Wednesday, at the Reyes Gym.
Tryouts begin at 4 p.m. with Acot and Arsenyo Dysangco conducting the search for aspirants hoping to bring their game to the D-League.
The tryout is open to players 18 to 26 years old. Participants are advised to come to the venue an hour earlier to fill out the Gems form and waiver.
Players who will attend the tryout are also requested to bring dark and light jerseys, which will be used in segregating the participants into groups.
According to Acot, the team is looking for players who are committed and willing to accept their fast-paced system, the most entertaining brand of game in basketball.
“We are looking for players who are swingable in position, players who can shoot, and have good attitude and great discipline,” said Acot.
Cebuana Lhuillier is a staunch backer of basketball, having supported the national team that won the gold medal in 2003 Southeast Asian Games.
The company brought its Gems squad to the Philippine Basketball League and the D-League and since then became a perennial championship contender, including a second-place finish in the inaugural staging of the D-League Foundation Cup.
