“Kung hindi magbabago ang laro niya, June Mar Fajardo will be the MVP in two years’ time.”
Danny Ildefonso has won two Most Valuable Player awards in the PBA, and he sees one in the future for Petron rookie center June Mar Fajardo.
In an earlier interview with InterAKTV, Fajardo said that Ildefonso was his basketball idol, and that the veteran slotman had been serving as a mentor for him.
But Ildefonso downplayed his role in Fajardo’s development.
“Wala naman akong pointers, kasi matalino naman siyang maglaro at saka natuturuan naming mabuti ng coaching staff,” added Ildefonso.
Fajardo played the best game of his young PBA career last Saturday, posting 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead an import-less Petron squad to victory over Rain or Shine. He followed that up with 13 points and seven rebounds in the Boosters’ loss to Talk ‘N Text on Friday.
