De Luna, Corteza, Mazon continue winning ways in Pacman 10-Ball

Jeff de Luna continued his streak in the ongoing Pacman International 10-Ball Cup, stopping Ricky Puro of Leyte, 9-4, late Friday night.

De Luna, who also won a Manny Pacquiao-sponsored tournament three years ago, used his power breaks to the hilt to defeat Puro, an unheralded player who defeated several favored players earlier in the tournamnt.

“Break has become the difference in the match,” said Puro after the match. “He had a more solid breaking game.”

Two other crack Filipino player, Jundel Mazon and reigning US Open 10-Ball champion Lee Van Corteza, also continued their winning ways in the $60,000 tournament.

Mazon, the champion of the first leg of the Guinness World Series of Pool this year, defeated former world No. 1 player Antonio Lining, 9-5.

Corteza, a former World 10-Ball runner-up, subdued snooker artist Benjie Guevarra, 9-4.

Young gun Jeff Diaz dumped former world pool runner-up Roberto Gomez, 9-4, to complete an upset.
