It has only been two games, but former B-MEG import Denzel Bowles, who led the Llamados to the Commissioner’s Cup title last May, has begun to turn heads with his performance in the NBA Summer League, where he plays for the New Orleans Hornets.
Scott Schroeder, who covers the NBA D-League and the Summer League for SB Nation, included Bowles among his initial list of best unsigned free agents in Las Vegas. Bowles scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in his Summer League debut.
“Denzel Bowles came out of nowhere on Sunday night to play a big role for the New Orleans Hornets’ Summer League squad,” wrote Schroeder.
Writing about Bowles’ debut, the Hornets blog At The Hive said the former PBA Best Import “has to be on the shortlist… to get a training camp invite” with New Orleans.
Bowles struggled in his second outing with the squad, scoring just a single field goal, even though he led the team in rebounding and blocks. After the performance, the blog said Bowles remains among its “early leaders to progress to training camp.”
