With the return of former import Rodney White still uncertain and the lethargic performance of replacement Reggie Okosa, Barako Bull has tapped two-time Best Import Gabe Freeman to reinforce the squad in the quarterfinals of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Baculi said Freeman has already boarded a flight to Manila and intends to play in Game Two of Barako Bull’s series against the Aces.
Freeman, who previously measured at 6-5 1/4, will be an undersized import in a tournament that features no height limit on reinforcements.
“We expect import numbers from Gabe,” Baculi told InterAKTV. “In our last game, the locals stepped up, but Alaska I’m sure, will be ready for that, so we need an import who can provide us some scoring, rebounding and a little bit of everything.”
Freeman led the San Miguel Beermen to the Fiesta Conference title in 2009 and a runner-up finish in the same tournament in 2010.
