Jensen, Mallari star in Big Chill win over Junior Powerade
Keith Jensen and Alex Mallari combined for 19 of Big Chill’s 21 points in the fourth quarter to defeat Junior Powerade, 73-61, in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the San Juan Gym.
The two Fil-American cagers took over for the Superchargers in the payoff period after the Tigers cut a 15-point first half deficit down to just two, 52-50, after three periods.
Jensen finished with 18 points, three rebounds, two assists and two steals while Mallari had 17 points, five rebounds and five assists as Big Chill improved to four wins and two losses.
It was a strong bounce-back effort for the squad of coach Robert Sison after they bowed to Blackwater Sports, 64-61, on April 12 at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
“I told the team that every game will be must win for us because the other teams will definitely bring their A-game,” said Sison, who won his fourth game in the five outings since he replaced Arsenio Dysangco.
Raffy Reyes was the third double-digit scorer for Big Chill with 11 points along with seven boards and four assists. Big man Jewel Ponferrada scored just two points but had nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Mikee Reyes led Junior Powerade with 11 points but the Tigers fell to 2-4 after their third straight defeat.
Tigers Jason Escueta and Claude Cubo chipped in 10 markers apiece.
