Jon Tuck pulls out of PXC 33 main event with injury; Sarmiento faces unbeaten Korean

Heralded Pacific X-Treme Combat (PXC) lightweight fighter Jon Tuck suffered an injury that will prevent him from competing in the PXC lightweight title match against champion Harris Sarmiento at PXC 33 on September 1 at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Tuck has not been cleared by doctors thus paving the way for a new main event for Sarmiento.

“This is unfortunate, as the match between Harris Sarmiento and Jon Tuck was extremely anticipated. Mixed Martial Arts is a volatile and rough sport where anything can and will happen. Harris will retain his belt and we will most likely set the Tuck-Sarmiento fight in the near future,” PXC CEO and promoter EJ Calvo said.

Sarmiento will instead take on Korea’s Seung Hwa Han in a non-title fight. The Korean is undefeated in his professional career with 3 wins and 0 losses. He was also an undefeated amateur with 6 wins and 0 losses.

Han competes out of Jeonju First Gym and is coached by Korean Top Team. MMA fighters from Korea have seen big success recently which includes PXC welterweight champion Lim Hyun Gyu from Korean Top Team. Gyu was also recently signed to fight for the Ultimate Fighting Champion (UFC).

“In true warrior fashion, Harris Sarmiento accepted a fight against a very dangerous Korean opponent one week out. We have been interested in Han for a while, and happy he has been training hard and ready to take the challenge against one of the toughest lightweights in the world,” PXC matchmaker Eli Monge said.

“Look for Han to try to make name for himself. This is an opportunity to immediately fight against the PXC lightweight champ. This could be history in the making, since anything can happen in MMA,” added Calvo.

PXC 33 happens at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City on Saturday, September 1. It will feature huge professional MMA matchups showcasing fighters from The Philippines, US Mainland, Hawaii, Guam, Japan, and Korea.
