Letran tries to bounce back vs Benilde; Mapua, EAC clash

The Letran Knights try to bounce back from a shocking defeat as they take on the College of Saint Benilde Blazers as Season 88 of the NCAA continues Monday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
Letran and CSB tussle at 4 p.m. before the Mapua Cardinals take on the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals at 6 p.m.
This year’s hosts will miss the services of team captain Jam Cortes, who was ejected in the second quarter of their last game against Lyceum because of a flagrant foul penalty two, after sticking an elbow right above the neck of Arellano’s Nicole Bangga.
Fellow Knight Jonathan Belorio, who was also ejected from that game for committing two flagrant foul penalty ones, escaped suspension after a thorough review.
Both Letran and St. Benilde are coming off back-to-back losses and are raring to get back on the winning track. The Blazers fell short last Thursday against Mapua.
Letran bowed down to Arellano, 87-77, last Saturday for the latter’s first win on their fourth try.
In the main game, the Cardinals will try to extend their winning ways when they face the Generals.
Mapua, which is still playing short-handed, booked its first win against CSB last Thursday.
Rookies Gab Banal, Joseph Eriobu, Mark BraƱa and Jessie Saitanan have been ruled ineligible by the NCAA, a decision that the Cardinals have since appealed. The result of the ruling on the appeal will be known on Tuesday.
EAC is coming off a pulsating 83-81 loss at the hands of Lyceum, who finally barged into the winning column last Saturday.
