Little Azkals split first two matches in Japan football fest
The Philippine national Under-14 football team split its first two matches Tuesday in the Japan-East Asean Football Exchange Programme U-14 Youth Football Festival Tuesday in Osaka, Japan.
The Little Azkals walloped Brunei, 3-0, in their morning match courtesy of a goal from Marco Casambre in the 10th minute and second half goals from Javi Romero-Salas and Mason Vergara to start the festival with a victory.
However, the Philippines were held scoreless in its afternoon match, suffering a 2-0 loss against Indonesia.
Teams will play five games each in a round-robin format, with matches composed of two 25-minute halves with no injury time and penalty shootouts.
The nationals will next face Malaysia and Japan on Wednesday before capping off their campaign against Singapore on Thursday.
The festival aims to promote friendly relations between the Japanese and the Asean youth.
