The Philippine national women’s football team will battle Myanmar in its opening match in the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation Women’s Championship in September at the Thong Nhat Stadium in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
The Malditas will face Myanmar, last year’s finalist, on September 13. They take on 2010 champion and host Vietnam on September 14, and Singapore on September 17 to complete their matches in Group A.
They need to finish in the top two of the group to advance to the crossover semifinals and clash with the two best teams in Group B that features defending champion Thailand, Laos, Indonesia and Malaysia.
In the last four editions of the tournament, the Malditas, ranked 85th in the world, failed to get past the group stages.
