Barangay Ginebra San Miguel superstar Mark Caguioa injured his knee in the Gin Kings’ 84-81 victory Friday night over the Meralco Bolts.
The reigning PBA Most Valuable Player was subbed out after suffering the injury with more than two minutes left in the game, and did not return.
A member of the squad confirmed that Caguioa suffered a strained knee.
“Nasaktan yung tuhod niya,” said the team member. “Pero hindi namin alam kung gaano kaseryoso yung injury.”
After the game, Caguioa went out of the locker room limping and favoring his right knee, but refused to comment on his injury.
Ginebra coach Alfrancis Chua said the team was still waiting for an update on his star player’s status.
“Hopefully hindi grabe,” he said.
