Opening game winners Meralco and Petron break their tie, while Talk ‘N Text and Air 21 try to get into the winning column in a rare Saturday doubleheader in the Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
The Bolts and the Boosters face off at 4:30 p.m., with the winner joining the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the top of the standings, while the Tropang Texters and the Express duel at 6:45 p.m. to try to get their first win of the conference.
The games will be broadcast on a delayed basis over AKTV on IBC starting at 6:30 p.m. because of live UFL games scheduled earlier in the afternoon.
Meralco is once again expected to rely on the high-scoring trio of import Champ Oguchi, Mac Cardona, and Sol Mercado, who towed the to their first franchise win over Talk ‘N Text last Wednesday.
Defending champion Petron, on the other hand, wants a repeat showcase of its vaunted firepower that it used to demolish the Powerade Tigers during opening day last Sunday at the same venue.
Air 21, meanwhile, is looking to bounce back from a trouncing from Ginebra last Wednesday and are eager for the opportunity against shorthanded Talk ‘N Text, which will again miss key players Kelly Williams, Jayson Castro, and Jimmy Alapag. The Express are eyeing a repeat of its result over the Tropang Texters in the Commissioner’s Cup, an upset win that saw Air 21 forward Nelbert Omolon post monster numbers of 23 points, 14 rebounds, and four blocks last March 7.
