The NCAA has decided to cancel scheduled games on Thursday and Saturday because of torrential downpour causing heavy flooding that has affected the country this week.
Rev. Fr. Victor Calvo of Letran, the NCAA Management Committee chairman, made the announcement in a statement Wednesday. Matches on Thursday, August 9 featuring Jose Rizal University versus Letran and San Beda versus San Sebastian and Saturday, August 11 featuring Mapua versus Arellano and Letran versus San Beda have been postponed to a later date that hasn’t yet been determined. Juniors matches scheduled to be played on those dates were also postponed.
Calvo noted that the games were postponed “in consideration to the recovery situation in flooded areas and while other NCAA-member schools are being used as evacuation sites.”
The August 11 twin bill was originally slated last July 21. It was also postponed due to inclement weather.
