After losing its opening game to Letran last week, San Sebastian will try to bounce back on Saturday against College of Saint Benilde as NCAA Season 88 action continues Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Stags and the Blazers tip off at 4 p.m., followed by the duel between Letran and Perpetual Help at 6 p.m.
San Sebastian center Ian Sanggalang, who carried the fight for the Stags late in the game against the Knights, said his squad has worked on its issues. “Madami kaming adjustments na ginawa and binigyan emphasis sa amin ni coach na we should play as a team and not as an individual,” he said.
Benilde, which won its opening assignment against Lyceum last Monday, will try to grab the lead in the standings. Main man Carlo Lastimosa said defense is the key for the Blazers. “We focused mainly on our defense. Tomorrow’s game will boil down on how willing we are to play. We’ve been preparing all week for them and we know what to do. We’ll just have to execute our plays well,” he said.
The Letran-Perpetual Help duel, meanwhile, is a battle of early winners.
Jett Vidal, who scored 17 points for the Altas in their victory over Lyceum last Friday, said they will focus on stopping Letran star Kevin Alas, who dropped 31 points on the Stags in the opening game.
“Bago palang naman mag-opening, prepared na kami sa lahat ng makakalaban namin. Tomorrow alam namin na physical game kaya all out kaming lahat. Basta ibibigay ko 100% ko tomorrow lalo sa pagdepensa kay Kevin,” said Vidal.
