Filipino veteran runner Rene Herrera ended his London 2012 campaign on a sour note on Wednesday, finishing last in Heat 1 of the 5000 meters race.
He ran a personal-best 14:44.11, which placed him 21st among runners in the race won by Azerbaijan’s Hayle Ibrahimov.
With Herrera’s ouster, the Philippines only has one man left standing in the Olympics, cyclist Daniel Caluag who will begin his campaign later Wednesday (early Thursday Manila time) in the BMX competition.
