OneFC pits Filipino MMA fighters Folayang, Laursen against each other

Regional MMA promotion One FC recently announced its full fight card for its September 3 debut in Singapore, with Eduard Folayang and Ole Laursen reportedly headlining as the main event in a lightweight bout.

Folayang (9-1) is the URCC welterweight champion and one of the most prominent Filipino MMA fighters. The Team Lakay fighter is a Wushu specialist who has won several medals representing the country in the Southeast Asian and Asian Games.

Laursen (5-2) is a half-Filipino, half-Danish Muay Thai practitioner fighting out of his Legacy Gym in Thailand. The Manila-born Laursen was a successful kickboxer before transitioning to MMA. He is currently on a 5-fight winning streak.

Both fighters fought in the Singapore-based Martial Combat promotion, where they each won a Superfight lightweight title. Laursen submitted Eduardo Pachu in May last year while Folayang defeated Mongolian Bao She Ri Gu two months later to each win a championship.

It would be interesting to see what a win here would do for the career either fighter, as the promotion attempts to make its claim as the number one MMA promotion in Asia.

The One FC card will feature several UFC veteranss. The co-main event is a welterweight clash between former UFC fighters Phil Baroni and Yoshiyuki Yoshida. Baroni has fought against Matt Lindland, Frank Shamrock and ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ Season 7 winner Amir Sadollah while Yoshida has been in the cage with guys like Josh Koscheck, Dan Hardy and Anthony Johnson.

URCC featherweight champion Eric Kelly will also be on the card.
