Dennis Orcullo of the Philippines reached the last 32 stage of the World 8-Ball Championship as he defeated Naseer Al Mujaibel for the second straight day.
On Wednesday, Orcullo reasserted his dominance over Naseer, 9-5, to fortify his bid for a second straight title.
The reigning world No. 1 player, who was named WPA Player of the Year, advanced to the next round alongside Vilmos Foldes of Hungary, Neils Feijen of the Netherlands, Ko Pin Yi of Chinese Taipei, Jalal Yousef of Venezuela, Karol Skowerski and Liu Haitao of China.
Foldes outplayed Kuo Po Cheng of Chinese Taipei, 9-5; Feijen nearly swept Saed Mohammed of Kuwait, 9-1; Ko dumped Raymond Faraon of the Philippines, 9-5; Yousef waylaid Konstantin Stepanov of Russia, 9-5; Skowerski whipped Shaker Whadan of Jordan, 9-6; and Liu bamboozled Abdulatef Fawal, 9-6.
