Pacquiao picks Cotto over Mayweather

BAGUIO CITY – Filipino boxing icong Manny Pacquiao, in an interview with newsmen here, predicted that Puerto Rican boxer Miguel Cotto would beat Floyd Mayweather Jr. in their title bout on May 5 at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao described Cotto as a strong, wily and strong boxer.
His trainer Freddie Roach sees otherwise, predicting that Mayweather would clinch the title in the forthcoming world boxing spectacle.
Pacquiao is set to end his three-week high altitude training in this mountain resort 250 kilometers north of Manila and will fly to the United States Saturday for further training.
The congressman from Sarangani is set to defend his crown against undefeated American champion Timothy Bradley on June 9 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao skipped his regular morning jogging here and only had light workouts at a local gym where he faces later Thursday night two Russian boxers for sparring sessions.
Assistant coach Buboy Fernandez earlier assessed that the Filipino ring icon has already regained his speed and timing, and that local conditioning coach Marvin Somodeo was successful in giving a remedy to the champion’s usual leg cramps.
Team Pacquiao is set to return to Manila Friday in time for their preparations to leave the country for the United States.
