Pasargad FC of the United Football League will compete for the first time in the 2013 Asian Football Confederation Futsal Club Championship qualifiers slated on April.

Futsal is a type of football game played on a smaller pitch indoors. Five players — one goalkeeper and four outfield players — compose each squad during the match divided by two periods of 20 minutes each.

Pasargad, the only representative from the Philippines, will face Shenzhen Nanling of China, GH Bank of Thailand, and Tainan City of Chinese Taipei in Group A of the Zone 2 qualifiers.

Group B will feature Pelindo FC of Indonesia, Thai Son Nam of Thailand and Dural Warriors of Australia.

The qualifiers will be played at the Panasonic Sports Complex in Shah Alam, Malaysia from April 11 to April 16.

Aside from playing in the UFL, Pasargad, which is mostly composed of Iranian players, has been active in the country’s futsal circle, even winning the Philippine Futsal League in 2011. Its coach, Esmail Sedigh, also coaches the country’s national futsal team.

The top three squads of the qualifiers will advance to the AFC Futsal Club Championship proper, which will be played on August in Japan.
