Patriots survive Warriors in Indonesia
The AirAsia Philippine Patriots survived the Indonesia Warriors, 72-68, to continue to pace the ASEAN Basketball League standings Saturday night at the BritAma Arena in Jakarta.
Aldrech Ramos converted the marginal three-pointer with 43 seconds to play in the game to stave off the threat by Indonesia.
The Patriots remained in first place with an 8-2 win-loss record followed by idle Westports Malaysia Dragons (7-2) and the San Miguel Beermen (8-3).
With the Patriots leading by just two points, Ramos converted his only three-pointer of the game that gave them the cushion they needed to take the win.
Ramos finished the match with nine points.
The Patriots led by just one point, 63-62, but Anthony Johnson converted two free throws with 1:09 in the game. Steve Thomas halved his free throws before Ramos’ big triple.
Johnson led the Patriots with 24 points before he serves his one-game suspension following the brawl against the Beermen last week. Al Vergara had 12 points while Nakiea Miller added 11 points and 17 rebounds.
