Petron Blaze, continuing a last-minute shakeup to keep its PBA Commissioner’s Cup campaign alive, has beefed up its backcourt by acquiring Chico Lanete from Barako Bull in exchange for Marc Agustin.
The move comes as a surprise as Agustin, the son of Petron coach Ato Agustin, started several games for the Boosters this conference.
PBA commissioner Chito Salud confirmed to InterAKTV in a text message that the trade proposal has already been approved.
Petron also gave the pink slip to import Nick Fazekas to help its flickering hopes to make it past the elimination round. The Boosters will be suiting up Will McDonald in place of Fazekas.
Petron also signed free agent RJ Rizada, a former member of the San Miguel Beermen in the ASEAN Basketball League, to help shore up its decimated roster.
Center Rabeh Al-Hussaini will also be back in harness for the Boosters. He returned briefly earlier this conference after recovering from an ACL injury, but missed several games when he hurt his knee again.
