The Petron Blaze Boosters completed a trade to acquire big man Doug Kramer from Barako Bull in a deal approved by the PBA on Monday.
The Boosters sent center Dorian Peña to Barako Bull along with a second round pick in the upcoming draft in exchange for Kramer.
A former starting center for Powerade, Kramer has struggled in the Barako Bull fold with limited playing time. He is expected to play a key role for the Boosters, which traded away star forward Jay Washington a couple of months ago.
Peña, meanwhile, will make his second stint in a Barako Bull uniform. He was part of the squad that made it to the semifinals of the 2012 Commissioner’s Cup for Barako Bull before returning to the San Miguel franchise last season.
“We want to see inside presence,” said Barako Bull consultant Rajko Toroman.
Petron and Barako Bull will take on separate opponents to begin their respective Governors’ Cup campaigns on Friday. The Boosters will battle the Meralco Bolts while the Energy will face the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters.
