Host Colegio de San Juan de Letran kicked off Season 88 of the NCAA with a program that showcased the history and heritage of the Philippines. It opened with an interpretative dance that depicted the arrival of Catholicism in the country.

The opening ceremonies hearkened back to the Spanish roots of Letran, which was founded in 1620.

Letran drummers set the tone for the electric light show.

Even members of the NCAA policy board were dressed in garb reminiscent of the Spanish times.

NCAA policy board president Fr. Tamerlane Lana, OP opened by thanking the NCAA community.

Each school’s cheering squad performed a routine.

Even ushers wore dresses from the Spanish period.
