Former Chicago Bulls stars Scottie Pippen, Dennis Rodman and Horace Grant lead a team coached by Oscar “The Big O” Robertson against a team of PBA legends in the PLDT All-Star Basketball Challenge on Wednesday night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.
“We feel great, we feel excited, we know we have a lot of fans here, and we’re looking forward to really putting together a great show tomorrow night,” said Pippen.
The Philippine legends will be led by former PBA MVP Kenneth Duremdes and three-time Mythical Five first-teamers Jojo Lastimosa and Jerry Codinera. All three were named to the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players list during the league’s 25th anniversary in 2000.
Fan favorites Marlou Aquino, Nelson Asaytono, Vince Hizon, Bal David, Bong Hawkins, Noli Locsin and 7-footer EJ Feihl make up the rest of the home team.
Pippen is a seven-time NBA All-Star and three-time All-NBA First team member who won six titles alongside Michael Jordan in the 90s. He was also named to the Team USA’s famed ‘Dream Team’ in 1992.
Grant and Rodman were both part of three-peats in separate stints with the Bulls.
Fellow NBA alums Mitch Richmond, Jason Williams, Cliff Robinson and Bryon Russell round out the squad alongside Jeff Trepagnier, Charoy Bentley and Alexis Foyle.
AKTV will broadcast the game on Monday, July 23 at 8 p.m.
