On Monday, InterAKTV broke news that top Filipino-American prospects Cliff Hodge and Chris Ellis have chosen to join the SMART-Gilas Pilipinas cadet pool, barring them from becoming part of the upcoming PBA rookie draft.
Alaska coach Luigi Trillo called the SMART-Gilas program “selfish and unfair” for barring cadet prospects from joining the league, especially since the Aces and other teams have chosen to lend its top players to the national team.
“We are lending our best pro players. The draft is our only chance to strengthen our line up. Why deprive teams who are willing to lend?” said Trillo.
Do you agree with the coach?
