Gary David, whose exploits in the Philippine Cup captured the imagination of PBA fans, is set to receive a P15.1-million contract extension from the Powerade Tigers.
Tigers top executive JB Baylon confirmed news of the deal in a text message to InterAKTV.
David is set to receive the maximum PBA salary of P420,000 a month in the deal after a career-conference that saw him bursting into the national consciousness and leading Powerade to a Cinderella second-place finish in the all-Filipino tournament..
The former Lyceum sentinel once again led the league in scoring averaging 25.8 points over 28 games this conference.
“He still has an existing contract until July, but there would be adjustments until the next three years,” said David’s manager Danny Espiritu.
David, who turns 34 in July, said that the extension provides security for his career.
“Hindi na rin tayo bumabata, kaya thankful ako na I was given a three-year contract,” said David.
