The PBA is back.

The oldest play-for-pay league in Asia returns for its 41st season on Sunday, commencing with a colorful opening ceremony before the exciting clash between Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and Star Hotshots at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.

The Philippine Cup opens its curtains at 3 p.m. with its lone game scheduled at 5 p.m. All of the opening day festivities will be aired live on TV5.

All of the 12 teams are set to do their traditional parade during the opening alongside with their muses who will give additional glitter to the ceremonies.

After that, it’s all war as Rain or Shine and Star begin their respective campaigns.

The Elasto Painters are boasting a number of new faces led by Maverick Ahanmisi, a surprise No.3 pick in last year’s draft.

But Rain or Shine suffered a huge blow right before the start of the season as star guard Paul Lee could miss two months due to a knee injury, according to coach Yeng Guiao.

The Hotshots are beginning a new era, one without their long-time coach Tim Cone who moved to rival Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.

Without Cone, rookie coach Jason Webb now takes his first test for Star, still led by the veteran core of James Yap, Marc Pingris and PJ Simon, as they try to start their campaign on a winning note.
