Rampaging Fullback: Five Things We Learned from UFL 2012

AKTV/Mark Dimalanta
The 2012 United Football League has been consigned to the history books, but not before a resurgent Global FC lifted its first ever League title in its last game of the season.
Erstwhile leader Kaya played its part in the final day drama with a win against Penson Stallion Giligan’s, which meant that Global needed to get at least a draw in their game against the Loyola Meralco Sparks to win the title.
Global duly obliged with a 1-1 draw, but not before some nervy moments where the Sparks looked like they would get the win and destroy Global’s dream.
This has certainly been the most exciting UFL season to date with Global, Loyola, and Kaya all in contention for the title going into the last week of the season. As they say, the league table does not lie, and the final table shows Global just piping Kaya for the title due to a superior goal difference.
The abysmal Philippine Navy Redjuice absorbed a 6-0 thrashing courtesy of newly promoted Stallion on opening day; they would remain anchored to the bottom of the standings until the very end, becoming the first team to be relegated in the new ten team format.
After the jump, five things we learned from the recently concluded 2012 UFL Season.
