2. Global, when on song, is a force to be reckoned with

That Global has talented individuals in each position was never in doubt; the only question that remained was if these players could play together as a team. As their latest 5-1 thrashing of Kaya showed, the answer is an emphatic YES. Billed as a clash of the titans, Global demolished a sluggish Kaya side with a performance that threw down the gauntlet for all teams aspiring to be league champions.

Carli de Murga will always grab the headlines with two well-taken goals, but credit has to be given to an inspired Misagh Bahadoran, who assisted four of the five Global goals. Continually tormenting Anton del Rosario and Eddie Mallari on the left side, the man they call “Hollywood” put on a virtuoso performance that will surely impress the watching Hans Michael Weiss.

Filipino-German Patrick Reichelt had an equally impressive debut on the right wing, starting in place of Angel Guirado, who had left his jersey at home. Izo Elhabib will always be a threat up front with his deadly finishing, while the imposing presence of Val Kama will surely make up for Juani Guirado’s return to Spain.

If Global continues to play this way, it will surely figure prominently in the race to be the 2012 UFL champion.
