San Beda College takes early lead in NCAA volleyball tournament

San Beda College continued its surprising start by defeating Jose Rizal University, 25-18, 25-15, 25-15, Monday in the NCAA women’s volleyball tournament at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

The Lionesses took their second straight victory after stunning defending champion San Sebastian College in their season opener last Wednesday.

San Beda is now tied with University of Perpetual Help System DALTA for the lead in the team standings with a similar 2-0 win-loss card.

San Sebastian, meanwhile, bounced back from the stunning defeat with a 18-25, 18-25, 25-16, 25-18, 15-6 win over Arellano University.

The Lady Stags nearly suffered another sorry loss but bounced back from two sets down defeat the Lady Chiefs.

San Sebastian and Arellano are now tied with a 1-1 win-loss record. JRU tied Mapua at the bottom of the team standings at 0-2.

In the men’s division, Arellano beat San Sebastian, 25-16, 25-21, 25-12, tying Perpetual Help with a 2-0 win-loss slate.
