San Beda and Perpetual Help will try to clinch their fourth win to stay on top of the standings when they clash against separate rivals in the resumption of NCAA Season 88 Thursday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Red Lions take on the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals at 4 p.m., before the Altas take on the College of Saint Benilde Blazers at 6 p.m.
San Beda rebounded from a tough loss against Perpetual with a 59-53 victory over CSB courtesy of double-double performances from Rome dela Rosa and Jake Pascual. The Red Lions face slumping EAC, which won it first game three weeks ago and have lost its next three games. Cameroonian Cedric Noube Happi is expected to again carry the Generals with help from Russell Yaya, Franz Chiong and Jan Jamon.
Perpetual, still high from their momentous 88-87 overtime victory against San Beda last week, will face a Saint Benilde squad coming off a loss.
Altas coach Aric Del Rosario believes that with their dramatic win over the defending champions, other teams will now look at them differently.
“Dahil sa panalo namin sa San Beda, tingin ko, seseryosohin na nila ang Altas,” he said.
Carlo Lastimosa, CSB’s main gunner is expected to put up another show for the Blazers. The wingman had 21 points in their last outing in a losing cause as the only Blazer to score in double figures. Joel Tolentino, Mark Romero and Paolo Taha will have to step up and help Lastimosa in order to barge back into the winning column.
