The winning streak continues for San Sebastian as the Stags turned in an 91-70 win over Arellano University in NCAA Season 88 action Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Stags are on a five-game roll after losing their opening match, currently sharing the league’s top spot with Jose Rizal University. The Chiefs, meanwhile, dropped after sustaining their fifth loss in seven games.

San Sebastian was merciless in the game, with its biggest lead reaching 30 points, 83-53, late in the fourth period.

“I told them we can’t afford to relax on Arellano,” said San Sebastian coach Topex Robinson. “Our strategy is we try to focus on a per quarter basis. As long as we could limit Arellano’s production per quarter, we’ll be okay. I made sure everybody’s on the same page.”

Ian Sangalang came through with 27 points and 17 rebounds while reigning Most Valuable Player Calvin Abueva had his usual double-double finish of 22 and 16.

Arellano’s rising gem James Forrester was limited to just seven points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. John Pinto paced the Chiefs with 18 points, but it was not enough to bring Arellano back into the winning column.
