SEA Games pool medallists Chezka Centeno, Rubilen Amit to compete in China Open Joble Joble

2015 Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Chezka Centeno and two-time world champion Rubilen Amit will once again carry the forth for the country as they take their acts in the upcoming China Open later this month.

Fausto Centeno, Chezka’s father, confirmed the news to that both his daughter and Amit will play in China in the event slated from June 28 to July 5 in Shanghai.

It will be the second straight tournament in less than three weeks that Amit and Centeno will see each other compete. The two figured in an all-Filipina finals in the women’s singles event of the SEA Games in Singapore, with the 15-year-old Centeno besting the 33-year-old Amit for the gold.

The feat made Centeno the youngest ever gold medallist in SEA Games billiards.

In the China Open, Centeno and Amit will face a strong cast of local bets headed by reigning World 9-Ball champion Liu Shasha, Yu Han and Chen Siming, all of them in the top three rankings of the World Pool-Billiard Association.

Amit earlier expressed her admiration for Centeno whom she regards as her successor.

“Grabe yung maturity niya. I could tell na gagaling pa talaga siya because she works so hard. Maraming magaling na players, but si Chezka iba siya. She’s a champion person. More than her skills, yung personality niya yun ang talagang mas maa-appreciate mo,” Amit said.

Centeno also isn’t shy on raving about her idol Amit.

“Mas comfortable ako. Kailangan siya ng Philippine billiards and mas maganda kung dalawa kaming lumalaban,” said the 15-year-old pride of Zamboanga.
