Showbiz star Gerald Anderson shines with 34 points in MY League tournament

Movie and television actor Gerald Anderson dazzled everyone with his court savvy as he knocked in 34 points and powered third seed Mansoto Trucking to a 107-83 demolition of CDO in the MY League Basketball tournament at the San Juan gym.

Anderson, one of the hottest young actors in the showbiz industry, displayed his brilliance on the court as he drilled in five triples, including a buzzer-beating three-pointer at the end of the third period.

Anderson once considered playing for the NLEX Road Warriors in the PBA D-League, but the plans fell through because of his showbiz commitments.

Ryan Tolentino added 31 markers for Mansoto Trucking.

Anderson is one of the two celebrities playing in this tournament put up by commissioner Jeff Perlas. JC Tioseco is the other celebrity playing in the tournament, seeing action for Nougat.

CDO was paced by Mike Resurection and Romemel Semilla, who both tallied 20 markers.

In the second game, ex-pro John Cardel steered Air Asia to an 86-79 triumph over Team WG.

Cardel, who played for several teams in the PBA and the defunct Metropolitan Basketball Association (MBA), paced Air Asia with 17 points.

The semifinal round of the MY League Basketball tournament gets going today with Nougat facing Air Asia at 7 p.m. and Hyundai E. Rodriguez tackling Mansoto at 8:30 p.m.
