Talk ‘N Text among greatest of all time, says coach Norman Black

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters have been the most dominant PBA team in the last three seasons. The team has been to the finals of six of the past seven conferences, winning four titles including three straight Philippine Cup crowns.

But for coach Norman Black, they’re just getting started.

“Talk ‘N Text has been on a great run, but we feel the run isn’t over and we still have a lot of good basketball ahead of us,” Black told InterAKTV in a text message.

As it is, the Tropang Texters have secured their place in history, according to Black. The man knows whereof he speaks; he is the only coach in PBA history to win championships over four different decades, with the latest bringing his total to 11, third on the all-time list.

“At the moment, I would think that the current Talk ‘N Text team would have to rank as one of the best all-Filipino teams of all time just because they are only the second team to win three straight,” said Black.

Crispa won three straight stagings of the All-Filipino tournament in 1979, 1980, and 1983; the PBA held no non-import tournaments in 1981 and 1982, making Talk ‘N Text the only team to win an all-Filipino title over three straight years.
