Talk ‘N Text faces a dangerous Rain or Shine quintet as it tries to formalize its entry into the next stage of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Saturday in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu.
The Tropang Texters and the Elasto Painters square off at 6:45 p.m. as the latter hopes to stay alive for a playoff past the elimination round.
“Very, very dangerous,” said Reyes about the Rain or Shine team, which is coming off a 101-95 upset win over B-MEG.
“Their locals are playing well much better than ours at this point. They are fighting for their lives so we must find a way to [have] greater hunger.”
Talk ‘N Text is at solo top spot with a 5-2 win-loss mark and a win would secure them a spot in the next round and move closer to an automatic semifinals seat.
The Tropang Texters are coming off a heart-breaking 94-91 overtime loss to Barangay Ginebra.
The Elasto Painters, on the other hand, salvaged some hope after winning their last two games against Air 21, 113-83, and the Llamdos to improve their mark to 3-5.
Their only chance to make it to the next round is through playoff for the No. 6 spot but they need to defeat the defending champions.
“We want to have a decent ending to our conference no matter what,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
“The win against B-MEG would give us a psychological edge against Talk ‘N Text.”
