The List: The 10 Worst Decisions in Boxing History

9. Shannon Briggs def. George Foreman

November 22, 1997
Taj Mahal Hotel and Casino; Atlantic City, New Jersey

Foreman, who was a 48-year-old veteran fighting for nearly 30 years at the time, was matched against Briggs in a eliminator match that could have sent him to a title fight against WBC champion Lennox Lewis. While he was far from his prime – and it showed – Foreman still proved that he had it in his advanced age when he pounded on Briggs with heavy shots for 12 rounds.

Unfortunately for him, two judges scored the fight convincingly in Briggs’ favor and one scored it a draw. Foreman would make the decision to retire after this fight, and ended his career on this controversial note.

Briggs, when asked post-fight about his win, spoke about needing to “look at the tape” –- a similar reaction to Bradley after notching his own controversial decision over Pacquiao.
