Too tall for Govs Cup: Meralco sends home former Laker Devin Green
Devin Green of the Meralco Bolts became the first import prospect to be sent home days before the opening of the PBA Governors’ Cup.
Team consultant Jong Uichico told InterAKTV that Green exceeded the 6-foot-5 height limit for importsin the league’s season-ending tournament.
“We didn’t let him practice with us because we had him measured and he was over 6-foot-6. Ayaw na naming pilitin pa,” Uichico said in a telephone interview.
Meralco coach Ryan Gregorio said he is still looking for Green’s replacement.
Listed at 6-foot-7 in the United States, Green was an undrafted player from Hampton University but was signed by the Lakers in the 2005-06 season, playing 27 games.
He last played for the Idaho Stampede in the NBDL before he was recruited by the Bolts.
