Top Rank to stream Juan Manuel Marquez tuneup fight for free
Manny Pacquiao’s next opponent, Juan Manuel Marquez, will fight this weekend in Mexico against Likar Ramos, and Top Rank Promotions have made sure that the Mexican champion’s fight will be available to his fans in the United States. Bob Arum’s outfit announced that the match will streamed online for free for viewers in the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico at www.toprank.tv.
Filipino fans, meanwhile, can see the fight on TV5 this Sunday, with coverage beginning at 10:30 a.m., with a replay on AKTV on IBC-13 at 6:30 p.m
Apart from the Marquez-Ramos fight, Roman Gonzales will take on Orlando Salado and Juan Manuel’s brother Rafael will make his ring return against Eusebio Osejo.
The elder Marquez steps back into the ring in the tuneup against the lightly-regarded Ramos as part of his preparation for a November bout against Pacquiao. The Mexican champion and the Filipino pound-for-pound king will clash for a third time after two classic bouts; their first fight in 2005 ended in a draw, while Pacquiao won the rematch on a razor-thin split decision.
Top Rank’s decision to stream the fight takes away the need for boxing fans in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico to find a spam-filled page containing a livestream feed to watch the Marquez fight. For fans in other countries, however, it’s back to hunting for those UStream links.
