UAAP mulls selling separate tickets for big games
The UAAP is exploring the possibility of selling separate tickets to select games in the men’s basketball tournament this season.
UAAP president Nilo Ocampo of host National University said that other schools have also requested for the same set-up not only to the Ateneo-La Salle games but also to other marquee match-ups this year.
“As per the request of other schools, pinagiisipan namin na gawin din na separate ang tickets ng ibang games pero not all,” Ocampo told InterAKTV at the sidelines of the SCOOP Forum last Friday.
The selling of separate tickets to games began when FEU hosted the league in 2009. Its intent was to accommodate more fans and discourage scalpers.
“That will still depend on the results of the preseason games this year. We will see if it’s worth a try,” said Ocampo.
Most of the games will be held at the newly-built SM Mall of Asia Arena with several matches still be played at the SMART-Araneta Coliseum.
Ocampo also said that the league will schedule women’s and juniors matches in the morning on the same day as the seniors games.
“Gusto rin namin na maramdaman nila (women’s and juniors players) na maglaro sa MOA Arena,” Ocampo explained.
So far, the date and venue of the much-awaited rivalry game between Ateneo and La Salle has not been finalized, according to Ocampo.
“Pwede maging MOA Arena, pwede rin sa Araneta,” he said.
