UAAP taekwondo kicks off today at the Arena
UAAP Season 74 Taekwondo action kicks off Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan with University of Santo Tomas seeking to repeat as women’s champion and De La Salle University hoping to keep the men’s trophy in Taft Avenue.
The Tigresses, winners of 11 women’s titles, will be playing without Season 73 Athlete of the Year Camille Manalo, Emron Golding and Izel Masungsong.
But UST head coach Dindo Simpao would be relying on Jade Zafra, one of the stars in the team’s conquest of Far Eastern University last season.
The Green Archers will parade Season 72 MVP Marlon Avenido on the lineup as they vie for their seventh crown. Avenido was not eligible to play last year.
The Tiger Cubs, meanwhile, will be defending their crown in the juniors division.
