The Loyola Meralco Sparks and Green Archers United showed no mercy for their opponents in huge blowout victories in the United Football Cup Saturday night at the Emperador Stadium.
Loyola pounced Dolphins United FC, 16-0, while Green Archers demolished Blue Guards FC, 17-0, in a goal-scoring spree night of UFL Cup.
James Younghusband, Chad Gould, and Jake Morallo bagged hat tricks with three goals each to lead Loyola against Division Two squad Dolphins.
Six other players also scored at least one goal for the Sparks, who built a 6-nil halftime lead before going on a rampage in the second half by scoring 10 more goals.
Meanwhile, Jesus Melliza exploded for five goals, while Chieffy Caligdong and Jesse Martindale fired three goals apiece to carry Green Archers against guest squad Blue Guards.
Caligdong scored two goals in the first four minutes to jumpstart the dominating performance of Green Archers, which held a 7-nil cushion at halftime. Jesse Martindale also finished with a hat trick, while five players scored at least one goal for the team.
With the results, Loyola and Green Archers tied for the early top spot in Group E with three points each.
