Under-22 Azkals fall again in Thailand
The Philippine national Under-22 men’s football team yielded a 4-0 loss against premier club team Osotspa Saraburi FC at the Saraburi Football Stadium in Thailand Friday.
The U-22 suffered its second setback in its training camp after the Thai U-22 team gave them a 9-1 beatdown on Wednesday.
The squad is in Thailand as part of its preparations for the Asian Football Confederation U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers in Yangon, Myanmar from June 23 to July 3. The team coached by John Carmona will face also Cambodia on June 13 and Maldives on June 17 in tuneup matches.
The Philippines is drawn with South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and Chinese Taipei in Group G of the qualifiers. The top two teams in each group, as well as the best third-placer in the tournament, will qualify for the inaugural U-22 Asian Cup in 2013.
Only fifteen slots are up for grabs for the 41 countries participating in the qualifiers.
