Under-22 Azkals finally win in Thailand training tour

The Philippine national Under-22 men’s national team nailed a 2-0 triumph over varsity team Kasem Bundit University FC Sunday at the Kasem Bundit University football stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Jinggoy Valmayor and Jeffrey Christiaens each scored a goal in the first half to help the U-22 Azkals notch their first victory in their training camp.

Prior to the match, the Philippines suffered beatdowns against the U-22 squads of Thailand and Cambodia, as well as a Thai premier club team, in friendly matches which are part of their preparation for the Asian Football Confederation U-22 Asian Cup qualifiers slated on June 23 to July 3 in Yangon, Myanmar.

The Philippines is drawn in Group G with South Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, Myanmar and Chinese Taipei. The top two teams in each group, as well as the best third-placer in the tournament, will qualify for the inaugural U-22 Asian Cup in 2013.

Aside from Valmayor and Christiaens, the U-22 Azkals headed by coach John Carmona Tapped will also be bolstered by Marwin Angeles, Jose Pascual, Allen Serna, Raymark, Amani Aguinaldo of, Anthony Tongson, Jimmy Malalo-an, Ronald Batisla-ong, Divino Regis, Anthony Albao, Alejandro Baldo Jr., Christopher Pedimonte, David Fornea, Fitch Johnson Arboleda, James Theuer, NiƱo Ochotorena, , Chris Jacques Van Bossche, Angelo Verheye Marasigan, Aaron de Rama and OJ Porteria.
