Two days after the Commissioner’s Cup finals, the foul called on Kelly Williams on Denzel Bowles’ with 1.2 seconds left in the game remains a hot topic of discussion. Bowles made both his free throws to tie the game, and B-MEG outlasted Talk ‘N Text in overtime, 90-84, to wrest the title from the Tropang Texters.

Reader Jerome Acuin earlier weighed in with this comment:

Kaya sinasabi ng iba na walang foul, kasi all game long (actually, all series long) ang mga ganung nudge, hindi tinatawagan ng ref. Tapos biglang tinawagan nung hindi pumasok yung tira, pansinin niyo medyo late reaction yung tawag ng ref.

Kaya nasabi ko na panget yung ending kasi ref ang nag-decide ng outcome ng game, hindi players. Mas masaya sana kung nanalo B-MEG by a last shot na pumasok, ‘di ba? Hindi dahil sa controversial late call ng ref kaya natalo pa Talk ‘N Text.

But many fans maintained that the call was correct, like Francis Kiko Malicdem:

For me, there was a foul on the play, pero tingin ko judgment call na yun kasi pwedeng hindi tawagan ng foul o pwedeng tawagan… fortunately, for B-MEG, tinawagan. Sa Talk ‘N Text, stop whining that there was indeed a foul on the play. Hindi pwedeng sisihin ang ref sa ganung bagay. Breaks of the game, ika nga.
