Last night, B-MEG superstar James Yap and Barangay Ginebra rookie Dylan Ababou broke Samboy Lim’s 22-year-old All-Star Game scoring record after each scoring 44 points.

Lim posted that mark in the 1990 All-Star Game, the first edition of the Veterans versus Rookies, Sophomores, and Juniors matchup. The year before, the Veterans defeated the Rookies and Sophomores team in a dramatic matchup that saw the end of the Cold War between former Toyota legends Robert Jaworski and Ramon Fernandez.
The Dragon would have none of that in the 1990 game, as he led the Veterans to a 146-118 walloping of the RSJ squad.
