Last year, Daquis helped Army bag the crown in the inaugural staging of the V-League Open before helping the Troopers to a runner-up finish to Vietnam in the V-League Invitational Club Championship.
Aside from Daquis, expected to lead the Army charge are Joanne Bunag and Carolino sisters Mayeth and Michelle.
Expected to crowd Army as favorites is club team Sandugo, which is bannered by Thai imports Jeng Bualee and Utaiwan Kaensing as well as former college stars Nerissa Bautista and Suzanne Roces. Roger Gorayeb, who piloted Ateneo to the V-League first conference crown, will call the shots for Sandugo.
The Lady Eagles figure to contend once more even as Parley Tupaz takes over from Gorayeb. Alyssa Valdez, Fille Cainglet, Gretchen Ho, Dzi Gervacio, Jam Ferrer and Dennise Lazaro will again carry the fight for Ateneo.
Completing the Open cast are club team Cagayan Valley, Philippine Navy, and Far Eastern University.
