Lucky Chinatown holds Mooncake Bake Off grand finals, October 5

Lucky Chinatown has lined up various fun activities to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, considered by the Chinese community as the second grandest occasion after Chinese New Year.

Ongoing at the popular mall located in Binondo, Manila is the Lotus Wishing Candle ritual area where guests can take part in the ancient Chinese tradition of lighting a floating Lotus candle and setting it afloat on a water feature to attract prosperity and ward off spirits. The Lotus Wishing Candle space will be at the mall till Sunday, October 8.

A highlight of its Mid-Autumn Festival activities is Lucky Chinatown’s annual Mooncake Bake Off that will be graced by Master Chou Ching Yuan, one of Taiwan’s National Treasured Master for a special demonstration and as a guest judge of the baking competition.

Now on its fourth year, The Great Mooncake Bake Off was launched last Sunday, October 1, and will have its grand showdown on Thursday, October 5.

Winners get to take home Php10,000 for 3rd place; Php15,000 for 2nd place; and Php25,000 for the Grand Winner. Registration is still on going. For more information, visit the Lucky Chinatown Concierge.

On Saturday, October 7, 1 p.m., Lucky Chinatown is also hosting a community Mid-Autumn Dice Game that is open to all at the mall atrium. Guests can try their hand at this fun traditional game and get a chance to win exciting prizes such as an Electrolux oven, gift certificates from Belmonte Hotel, Robinsons Supermarket, and more, plus appliances and international round trip vacations for two.

Kids, meanwhile, will also enjoy fun kiddie activities like the Lantern Making competition on Oct. 06 followed by a Fashion Show featuring modern and traditional Chinese fashion on October 08. Kids will also be invited to participate in arts and crafts and a calligraphy workshop.
