Do “unattractive and prominent” scars in your skin worry you and lessen your self-esteem and confidence? Invida’s Dermatix Ultra product has a formula that can flatten, soften and lighten scars when used regularly.

“It’s a unique product backed up with scientific evidence and research. Also, it’s a product endorsed by a doctor.” Eleanor Lopez, Marketing Director of Invida, said.

What makes it more unique is that it has a “formula combined with the use of silicone gel with Vitamin C ester and Dermatix Ultra’s unique cyclopentosiloxane (CPX) technology.”

CPX has an easy dry feature that is also known to condition the skin, moisturize, flatten and soften scars while Vitamin C Ester lightens the scar and protects it from the sun’s skin-damaging rays such as UVA and UVB.

Silicone gel is another key ingredient. According to Dr. Maaliddin Biruar, Medical Director of Invida Philippines, silicone was converted into a gel or ointment for easy and convenient use to get rid of scars. Silicone is known to be a compound present in different objects such as gloves, contact lens, lubricants and many more. Its mechanism is through occlusion which restores the water balance in the skin and scar tissue.

Silicone gel, one of the ingredients in Dermatix Ultra, almost acts as an artificial skin layer that aids in the healing of scars. Photo courtesy of Invida Philippines.

Dr. Thomas Mustoe, one of the most respected surgeons in Chicago and considered as a guru of scar management, also explained in his talk that silicone gel almost acts as an artificial skin layer that aids in the healing of scars. However, Dr. Mustoe cleared that silicone-containing products like Dermatix Ultra  is more effective on new scars than old ones. “If a scar is no longer pink, I think it’s a waste of time to use silicone gel.”

“Approximately two-thirds of the patients who use it would get benefits. Let’s say one-third of patients won’t see much benefit, those patients will often heal very well on their own without anything. And I find scars so difficult (to treat) once they are formed. Silicone is not a miracle worker, not everyone responds to it,” Dr. Musto said in an exclusive interview with InterAksyon.

Scars are usually acquired from surgical procedures, burns and wounds. Or, for women, including from giving birth. For moms who underwent Caesarian section, Dermatix Ultra can help the scar heal caused by the surgical process.

Lian Paz-Contis, wife of TV actor Paolo Contis, underwent a Caesarian section when she gave birth to her two kids. She tried the product to get rid of her scar and found it to be effective. “My doctor prescribed it after I gave birth to my first baby. Within four months I saw the effect. From bulgy and reddish, nag-flatten na siya at nawala. After I gave birth to my second kid, I used it again. For me, it is highly recommended,” Lian said in an exclusive interview with InterAksyon.

Dr. Mustoe added that the product is also safe for children’s use. Dermatix Ultra is available at leading drug stores at a retail price of Php731 for a 7.5g tube and Php990 for a 15g tube.
